Day 1 (A little Late)

So this is my Day 1 summary only on day 2 LOL.

So today (yesterday now) was my official weigh-in day and will be my weigh-in day for the duration of this challenge. I also had my nutritionist take measurements to help me gauge my progress throughout.  Measurements will be taken once a month and I will weigh in for the purpose of this blog every Monday morning.

So up first is the weigh-in:

So my official starting weight is 284.6 pounds. I am not pleased with this because I have been smaller than this on several occasions before but I am starting over and this is the jumping off point.

I also had measurements done and these are the beginning measurements:

Bust: 47.5 in
Waist: 46.5 in
Abdomen: 56.5 in
Hips: 56 in
Thigh: 34 in
Calf: 18 in
Arm: 14.5 in
Wrist: 6 in

I am not sure I wrote down some of those measurements correctly so I will edit to change those after I verify.

So day1 one was not good but it wasn't horrible either. I did follow the plan for most of the day but once I got home the snack monster took me down. I have to find some way to avoid the afternoon snack attacks. I am open to any ideas you Divas may have. Other than that food was ok. There was no exercise because I was in the process of taking out my braids and I didn't finish until 10 that night. Tomorrow (today now) will be a better day. I am determined not get this thing right and my weight moving in the right direction.

See you divas later on today.

Peace and Blessings

YOLO Healthy Living Challenge

So I am finally back and ready to do the damn thing.
If you couldn't tell by my title or the collage of beautiful pics above I am in a YOLO state of mind right now. If you don't already know YOLO means You Only Live Once!!!!! I fell in love with this saying when I found the bracelet pictured below at my local grocery store.

I have been depressed for a number of months which I believe has contributed to my lengthy plateau.  I am diligently working on some personal issues and I have decided that I should issue myself a challenge to help me get back on the healthy living train.

Sooooooo....................
I have started my own YOLO Healthy Living Challenge.  "You Only Live Once, So Make it Count" is my new motto. So here are the specs for my challenge:

Time: Oct. 1, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013
This is 92 days.

Purpose: The purpose of this challenge is to help get me back on track with my weight loss and healthy lifestyle.  I do not plan to enter into the year 2013 weighing or feeling the same way that I came into 2012.

With is challenge I have set some goals that are specific to me.  If you would like to start your own YOLO Healthy Living Challenge make sure to make your goals and all other aspects of your challenge relate able to you. There is no one set way to do anything and if you personalize it I believe that you are more likely to be successful.

Goals

1. Lose 3-4 pounds per week
2. Incorporate exercise 3 times a week
      * Use the couch to 5K app to start jogging
      * Develop a strength training routine
3. Meditate and read the Bible DAILY!!!!! This is very important.
4. Document my journey daily here on Blogger.
5. try one new healthy recipe a week.
6. Track all food using "My Fitness Pal"
7. Stay within my calorie range of 1200-1400 cals per day
8. Reduce the amount of red meat that I consume.
     * Mini goal: reduce pork to 2 times a week and beef to once every two weeks
9. Allow myself two treat a week. They must be planned and cannot exceed 350 calories.
10. Take my vitamins daily
11. Measure and weigh everything

I have also set up a reward system to help keep me motivated and on track. I won't list those here but you get the idea.

YOLO Extras
Plan out all meals on Sunday night
Allow myself one diet soda a day
Be mindful of sodium intake
Eat out no more that 2xs a week
Follow my PHC guidelines
Stop making excuses
Be committed and determined.

Ultimate Goal

To lose 38-46 pounds by Jan. 1, 2013

So there is my challenge. It my be confusing to some but it make sense to me and that is really what matters.  I am truly committed to getting my life right and I know that I can achieve all the things that I have set out to do.

I will be back later today with my Day 1 update. Hope you Divas are staying on track and if not it's never too late to start over again.

Peace and Blessings

I'm Still Here

Hey there Divas,

I am still alive just not posting much these days. I am seriously trying to get my life together and that means I spend a lot of time thinking. I am also participating in a boot camp workout type thing so don't think that I have fallen off the weight loss bandwagon  I am just not writing about it. I hope to get back to regular post soon.

Day 10 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

This is the Day 10 post from my blog challenge.  Topic is:

Short Term goals for this month and why

Seeing how this month is practically over I will be making some short term goals for the month of May.  How about we do this bullet style.

  • Stop eating junk food.
WHY: Because it is not helping me to loose weight.  I am an admitted emotional eater.  It is always worse when I am stressed or sad. I usually turn to junk food because it is quick and easy to get to and tastes good.  I know that I will never reach my goal if I keep on eating this crap so it has to stop.
  • Track my food intake accurately DAILY!!!!
    WHY:
This is a requirement for my weight loss program. In addititon I have found it to help me curve the about of calories I eat in a day if I know where I stand throughout the day.  I also need to make sure that it is accurate. I have gotten in the habit of guessing and not measuring anything.  I am sure that I am going over my daily allotted calories but I just keep on doing it.  This must change.
  • Commit to a 6-week boot camp at my weight loss center
    WHY:
I HATE!!!!!! to exercise. Especially by myself.  I lack the self motivation over long periods of time to keep up with a routine on my own.  I know that to keep my weight loss going that I need to exercise more frequently and at a greater intensity than I have been.  Plain and simple I need to move my buns to loose my buns.
  • Loose 15-20 lbs in the next 6 weeks
    WHY:
My 10 year High School class reunion is coming up in about 7 weeks. I told my husband when I found out about it that I wanted to be so smoking hot that steam would rise form my foot steps.  Yeah I know that was a bit much but I meant it. So I need to get it cracking so the hotness can come forth.
  • Stop stressing
WHY: See the first bullet point.  When I'm stressed I eat so this is not helpful when you want to loose weight. Also stress is mentally draining and make me not a happy camper. I have to learn to let things happen as they will and not try to control everything.
So what are your goals for the next few weeks. Please feel free to share Divas.

Day 9 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

Its Day 9!!!!! (Not really but pretend with me OK!!! Thanks).  So I am trying diligently to catch up with this blog challenge. Here is the topic from day 9.

A picture of somewhere you have been

So the pictures that I am showing are not my own but I have been here and I did take pic but never got them developed.  LOL.

So the place that I have been is LONDON!!!!!!

I visited London my freshman year in college. I was in the Concert Chorale and we went on tour in Europe.  We visited several countries and sang at some of the most beautiful venues that I have ever seen.  It truly was a chance of a life time.

Where have you divas been that has inspired you?

Day 22 - Blog Challenge

Hey there lovely Divas,

So here continues the make up of my blog challenge topics.  Day 22's topic is:

10 things about you people don't really expect

So I am just going to make a list and add explanations where necessary.

  1. I have broken 10 bones.  I am super klutzy and I keep breaking the same bones over and over again.
  2. I have texture issues with food.  I.E. I don't like things that are slimy or squishy.  Such as pudding, jello, okra (boiled), yogurt, etc.
  3. I sing in a Gospel group and I love it!  We recently won an Urban Inspiration Award for Rhythm and Praise Group of the year. Whooo Hoooooo
  4. I want tattoos but I am too scared to get them.
  5. I have an obsession with all things makeup related.  I literally have a whole desk covered in makeup and do free lance makeup for weddings and the such.
  6. I HATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my job.  I am not working in my career field and it really sucks donkey balls.  But I love most of the people that I work with. LOL
  7. I want to have 4 or 5 kids and adopt at least one.  I love children and I always wanted a large family. My hubby is on board so we are trying to make it happen.
  8. I used to eat my salads dry. Like with no dressing at all just salt.  Now I couldn't live life without Fat Free Caesar Italian dressing.
  9. I loath tardiness. Like I get upset waiting to go places. I like to be early and when I'm late it pisses me off.
  10. I like to write but I am not a good speller.  That's what spell check is for, right?
That's it.  Feel free to join me.

Peace and Blessings

Day 23 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

So the blog challenge continues to be a big challenge for me to keep up with but I am deteremined to make this happen. Late or not!!!!! So today's topic is:

Something you always think "what if....." about

This is a great topic.  I run hypotheticals in my head constantly.  It usually has to do with my weight. So my "What if....." is:

"What if I never had a weight problem?"

When I think about this I always wonder how different my lfe would have been if I had never been overweight.  Woudl I be married? Would I have kids by now (because my husband and I are despreately tryng to conceive)?  Would I be workng in my career field?  Woudl I be rich?  Would I be truly happy?

All of these questions pop into my head and make me wonder.  But then.... I realize that I am truly blessed to be alive, no matter what my weight.  And if I hadn't grown up the way I did, I wouldn't be the vibrent person that I am today.  I wouldn't be kind and understanding. I wouldn't be married to the most amazing husband ever or have the best stepdaughter. I wouldn't have experienced all the wonderful things that I have.

Everything that has happened to me has been shaped not by my weight, but by who I was raised to be.  I love myself (finally!!!!) and I am super proud of what I have accomplished and will accomplish in the future.
So "What if I never had a weight issue?"  Answer: I wouldn't be me!!!!!

Super Late Day 1 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

I am in catch up mode so here is one of the post that I missed from this blog challenge. The topic for day one is:

Weird things you do when you're alone

I am weird when I'm around people so the craziness that happens when I'm alone is........Anywhoozle

1. I like to pretend that I am the star in my own musical.  I love music and think that any moment is a great time to bust out in song.  There is a song that pretty much describes every situation in life and they are constantly playing in my head anyway so I just start singing.

2. I like to look in the refrigerator.  I know its weird but I do.  I don't ever get anything out I just like to look in. I do the same thing to the freezer and the pantry.  Don't judge me.

3. I like to try out different accents.  Like Jamaican or super country.  Hey its fun to see how I sound.

That's pretty much all that I can think of.  I'm sure there are more but....

Anyone else want to share some of their weird habits? Feel free to join me.

Day 15 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

Clearly this blog challenge is not going well for me seeing as how the last day that I posted was Day 8.  I am in catch-up mode and hope to be caught up by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

So here we go with todays topic.

The best things to happen to you this week.

So as you can see from my happy bouncning smilies I am super excited about today's topic.

So this past week was my last week working the night shift.  Most nights I felt like this ......

But ohhhhhhhh Happy Dayyyyyyyyy I am back on first shift.
This is one of the best things that has happened to me this year!! LOL  I have been a night shift zombie for close to a year.  It was putting a strain on my already horrible sleeping habbits as well as on my marraige.  Note to all.... 3rd shift is not for married folk.  At least not for me and my hubby. So if you couldn't tell I am super excited about coming to the day light.

Another great thing that happened to me this week is that I got my first bowling ball.  I know you think I am lame but I like to bowl.  My hubby bowls in a league and I plan to join him this summer and get my bowl on. So being the super diva that I am I had to get a super cute ball.  It looks like this one.

It's all glittery and girly and I loves it to pieces.
It is custom drilled for my hands and I am working on improving my game before the league starts.

Hope you enjoyed this entry.

Peace and Blessings

Day 8 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas,

So clearly I need to try harder to keep up with this blog challenge.  But I'm here today (Late) but here.  The Topic for today is:

Something you are currently worrying about

So this is a hard topic to do, but I am up for the challenge.

So something that I am currently worrying about is the status of my career or lack there of. In 2010 I complete my Master's in Public Health.  I was super proud of myself for completing a grueling program that was completely on line.  I wanted to quit on several occasions, but I stuck it out and earned my degree.  After I completed my degree I started applying for jobs in my field.  And...................... NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!!  Not a phone call or and interview.  NOTHING!!!! I was super discouraged.  Finally I landed my current part time position as a research assistant.  But its only part time and I still have to work my full time job which I hate.

Every job I look at applying for wants you to have all these years of experience. How the heck and I supposed to get it if no one will actually give me a chance and hire me.  I really don't know what to do but to keep applying and praying that something will open up for me.

Have any of you Divas ever experienced this?  What did you do to finally make it into your chosen career fields? I needs some help here people!!!!

Day 6 - Blog Challenge

Greetings Divas.

So today is Day 6 of my Blog Challenge.  If you want to see the list of blog topics that I chose go and check out my blog post here!!!!!!

Anywhoozle. Today is:

A picture of yourself (baby pic) and a story to go with it.

So please prepare yourself for some major cuteness.  This is not quite a baby pic but I'm sure the blog gods will let it slide.

I will give you all a moment to recover from the extreme cuteness that is mini me!!!!!.................................

Take your time. I can wait................................

Just kidding but this is little me. This is my favorite picture of myself when I was younger.  My eyebrow looks so devilish. It naturally grows that way and people used to always tell me that I look like I was up to something.  People used to always pinch my cheeks too.  I know they are juicy and all but that pinching was kinda painful. I pretty much still look the same.  Hope you enjoyed this. I am looking forward to catching up with this challenge and keeping it up over the next month.

100 FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

Greetings Divas,

It has been a super long time since I have posted a blog and I am sorry about that. I have been stressing out and just not feeling like my weight loss journey was going that well and blogging was the farthest thing from my mind. But I am back. Soooooo if you did not notice that title then here is is for you...........

I LOST 100 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW. I thought I would never get here.  I have been in a plateau for about 3 months struggling to loose the lase 7-10 lbs before I made it to 100 lbs lost and I was finally able to break thorough.  If you read any of my previous post then you know that I am participating in Lent this year.  I think that the fasting that I did as well and the closer spiritual relationship with God that I gained during this time helped me to focus and break through to reach my first major goal. I am super super excited that it finally happened.

Anywhoozle. Since I know that I am such a horrible blogger I am going to try and do a 30-day blog challenge to help get me back in the habit of writing here.  I am kinda excited as you all will be able to learn a little bit more about me and I will be fulling my commitment to blog more often.  I am really looking forward to it. Since we are already 4 days into April, I will more than likely be playing catchup so that the blog challenge will end on April 30.  So look forward to seeing a couple of post a day for a while until I get caught up.

If you would like to join me I will be posting the questions in a separate post.

Hope you Divas are keeping up with your weight loss goals.

Peace and Blessings

Friend Makin’ Mondays: What’s On Your Workout Playlist?

Greetings Divas,

I know that today is "technically" Tuesday, but I work 3rd shift so it is still Monday for me.

Anywhoozle. It's time for another Friend Makin' Monday post.

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: What’s On Your Workout Playlist?

Ahh the work out mix.  I have a Zune and I have several different playlist for different occasions on it.  Right now my workout playlist is in desperate need of updating.  So I will be stealing some of the song that other bloggers are posting.  But here is a short list of the songs that keep me pumped during my torturous and back breaking fun workouts...

  • "Rehab" Amy Winehouse
  • "Check On It" Beyonce
  • "Crazy In Love" Beyonce
  • "Boom Boom Pow" The Black Eyes Peas
  • "All I Do Is Win" DJ Khalid
  • "Firework" Katy Perry
  • "How Low" Ludacris
  • "B.O.B." Outkast (my favorite to get me to the end of a grueling workout)
  • "Pon de Replay" Rihanna
Now its your turn to share your top hits.  Don't forget to boogieon over to Kenlie's blog and link up and check her out if you haven't already. She's pretty awesome.

Observing Lent

Greetings Divas,

It's been a while.  But I am not gonna keep apologizing for it. I really haven't had much to say about my journey other than I am stressed. Right now I am too stressed out to worry about keeping up with my personal blog.  But I do read every one Else's blogs daily.

Any way.  As we all may know Lent started on yesterday and will go until April 5.  For those that don't know, Lent is a forty-day season of preparation for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. During Lent, many of the faithful commit to fasting or giving up certain types of luxury as a form of penitence.

This is the first year that I have chosen to observe lent.  I know that I need to form a closer relationship with God and I believe this is a great way to kick start.

As far as this thing that I am giving up for lent I have a couple and a small schedule since I was late on the whole it started yesterday thing.

So I plan to give up:

1. Cursing-

Yeah I know its bad but we all have our faults.  This is really gonna be difficult cause I tend to have a bit of a potty mouth.
2. Candy

I have a serious addiction to candy. Particularly sprees.  So I will be giving those up starting on next Wednesday.

In addition to the two things I am giving up I decided to add something.  I have added daily bible reading to my Lent observation.  I have the Bible app from youvision on my phone and there are several Lent devotional plan that you can read I chose one and started reading yesterday. I know this will help draw me closer to God.

Are you Divas observing Lent? If so what are you giving up/adding from or to your lives?

Peace and Blessings

Monday Milestones

Hello Divas,

Sooo its that time again.  Time for my Monday Milestones post.  I missed it a couple of week but I am back at it now.

So I will be using my new years goals for this post and will possible be making some new goals this week.

So my goals and the results for last week are as follows:

1. Track my food intake DAILY!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • This was an EPIC FAIL.  I cant seem to write things as I eat them.  I am not sure why this is sooooo hard for me but I am making a consious effort to change this.

2. Drink at least 100 oz of water daily!!
  • Yet another EPIC FAIL!!!!!! I have been slack with my water intake and it showed at my weigh ins last week. But I am back on track and getting my H2O on.
3. Exercise at least 3 times a week for at least 30 min.
  • EPIC FAILURE!!!!!!ok so this was not really an epic failure. I exercised two times last week but got busy on the weekend and missed my last work out.  I started this week off right with a 30 min walking video.
4. Blog more consistently ( i know this is not weight loss related but my blog keeps me accountable so it counts)
  • Getting much better but still not as consistant as I would like.
5. Stop Making excuses
  • Clearly you can see that has not happened. LOL  But all I can do is see where I am doing wrong and try to make a change.
So divas how was your last week.  Hope it was better than mine.  Make sure to stick to your goals and STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!! That was for me!!

Peace and Blessings.

BYOC- Bring Your Own Crazy

The lovely Draz over at It's just Me, Drazil, & Sheniqua posted a BYOC for the new year.

And since I am trying to keep my blogg beefy I will participate.

So here goes.

Yup, Bring Your Own Crazy returns! It is 5 little questions you can answer in your own blog to give your blogging brain a break and to get to know each other better.

Copy, paste and enjoy!

Let’s do a holiday/new year themed BYOC today!

1. How do you feel about NY resolutions? Do you make them? Do you forget about them quickly? Do they help you?

In the past I always made resoulutions to lose the weight that was holding me down, and that shiz never happened. But last year I didn't make any and I finally lost the weight. Go figure.

This year I set some goals for myself and I am sure that now that I well into my weight loss journey I will accomplish them.  I also set some other personal goals I hope to acheive as well.
2. Did you put up a Christmas tree? How many? Is it still up?

I did put up a tree. Its the same tree we put up every year at my mom's house. I love it.  And yes that sucka is still up.  My step-daughter went home for Christmas so we left it up untill she got back. Now we are just too lazy to take it down.

3. How many total Christmases did you choose to have to attend outside of your home?

One. We always go to my graandmothers house.  But last Christams..... I was in my husbands home town and we went to 7 yes 7 fucking Christamses. I was too pissed.  We will never do that again.
4. What are you most looking forward to this year?

I am looking forward to reaching my goal weight and getting pregnant.  I know, I know. I really want to start my family and this seems like the time to do it.  Hopefully I can make us a baby this year.
5. Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blogland this week.

In real life I am working working working. I have 2 jobs and that amounts to no days off ususally. But its all good when the checks roll in.

In blogland I am happy to say that I am getting back to posting regularly and really enjoying my new youtube channel.  Check me out.  My name is CurvyDiva3 (of course!!!!)

Friend Makin' Monday: 2012

Welcome to the first FMM of 2012! And because it’s a brand new year, I’m sure you won’t be surprised by this week’s topic: goals.

FMM: Goals for 2012

  • I will make a valient effort to track everything that I eat DAILY!!! I have a real problem with writing down what I eat on the day that I eat it.  Then I run into problems remembering what I ate 3-4 days ago.
  •  I will work to loose 3 pounds per week.  I know I capable of this and I will make every effort to make sure that this happens consistently.
  •  I WILL exercise at least 3 times a week for at least 30 min.  This is sooooo stinking hard because I loathe exercising.  But such is life. If I don't mova I won't loosa!!! lol
  • I will drink at leat 100 oz of water per day. I know that shounds like a lot but because of my bladder disease and my begining weight this is a very doable number for me.
  • I will stop making excuses for myself and my bad behavior.
These are my goals for the new year. I WILL accomplish them. I am very detemined to reach my goal weight before middle of this year.

Peace and Blessings
